Your admin allows the integration and configures its connection method. For member sources, connect your own account so Studio can establish what you are allowed to search. Admins use the same flow. For central Google sources, join Studio with your matching verified Google Workspace email; no personal Google connection is needed.
Join your organization
Accept your Studio organization invitation or sign in through your organization's SSO. Use a verified Studio email that matches your account at the source. Organization Search does not require workspace access.
For a central Google source, use your primary Workspace email and open Search or Home after joining. The authorization steps below apply to sources that require a personal connection.
Open Integrations
Open Integrations in the main sidebar, find the integration, and select Connect. If an admin has configured its content, you only authorize your account. If no source exists yet, Confluence and Jira ask you to connect your Atlassian account, choose the site and spaces or projects, and select Connect & Sync. GitHub asks for a repository. If the provider is missing, ask an organization admin to add it under Settings → Sources → Add source.
Each integration appears once. Sources that share your account authorization reuse that connection; adding another repository does not require reconnecting. Connect appears when authorization is missing, and Reconnect appears when an existing account needs renewal. A sync failure alone does not require reconnecting. To add different content, open the row’s actions menu (…) and select Add repository, Add Confluence site, or Add projects.
If you see More connections to check, select Check connections to check the next set of sources. Studio shows Connect or Reconnect when it finds an account that needs authorization.
Authorize your account
Complete the provider's authorization in the new tab. Choose the account associated with your verified Studio email. The provider may require your organization's SSO or app approval.
The authorization tab closes when the connection completes and Integrations updates. If the tab stays open, return to Integrations. For an existing source, your account is saved when authorization completes. For first-time Atlassian setup, return to the form, choose your content, and select Connect & Sync. If the popup was blocked or closed, allow popups and select Connect again. While authorization is pending, use Open again.
Start searching
Your integration row shows its connection and indexing status. Admins manage individual repositories, sites, and other content under Settings → Sources. Open Search in the organization sidebar and search for something you can already open in the source. Use Home to ask the assistant about your connected documents. The first sync may take time, especially for large accounts.
For a source configured inside a workspace, join that workspace and connect through its Search page. To find documents, open Home and select Search in the composer. Organization and workspace sources are separate.
Do I always need to connect?
| Source setup | Your next step |
|---|---|
| Member accounts | Connect your own account, including when you are the admin. |
| GitHub App installation | Connect GitHub once for this Studio organization. The App handles indexing; your account establishes which repositories you may search. |
| Confluence service account | Connect Confluence to verify your identity; the service account handles the crawl. |
| Google Workspace service account (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) | No personal connection is needed for that source. Your verified Studio email identifies your mailbox and calendar view, or is matched to Drive permissions. |
| GitLab | No personal connection is needed. For an administrator token, your verified Studio email must match your confirmed primary GitLab email. For a non-admin token, it must match the uploaded user mapping and have a project grant. |
Gmail, Calendar, and Drive are separate Search sources. Connecting one Google service does not connect all of them. Central Google and GitLab sources remain searchable without a personal account connection.
If you received a connection request
Open the link from your admin and sign in to Studio with the invited email. A provider-specific request opens a Studio connection page for that provider; select Connect to start authorization. Verify your Studio email if prompted. Studio returns you to the connection page to authorize your account; if you are not redirected, reopen the original link.
An account connection request does not invite you into the Studio organization. You can contribute an account without organization membership, but you need membership and enabled Search access to search the organization's documents. A provider-specific request offers Return to Search when you have that access; otherwise it offers Open Studio. A request covering several providers lists their connection options and a Submit button. Each account is saved as soon as its authorization completes.
Manage your connected accounts
On the main Integrations page, select Reconnect beside the integration if your account has expired. To withdraw an account, open its actions menu and select Disconnect, then confirm. If several accounts are connected, choose the account to disconnect. Disconnecting stops that account from being used for organization indexing and workflows, and removes Search access that depends on it.
Admins manage setup from Settings → Sources. Open an integration, then its connection to see Documents, Settings, and Sync history. People shows account contributors across integrations and supports filtering by integration. This does not grant the admin access to every document.
Syncing runs automatically. Admins can use Sync now when they need an update; another manual run is available 60 seconds after a successful sync finishes. Failed or partial runs can be retried immediately. The connection header also offers Pause syncing or Resume syncing, and Remove connection.
Removing a Search connection also removes its indexed documents from Studio. The originals remain in the connected app.
If you get stuck
| Status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Connect | Complete the connection in the new tab. |
| Reconnect | Authorize the same source account again. |
| Finish connecting in the other tab | Finish authorization, or use Open again. Allow popups for Studio. |
| No results | Check the source's filters and sync status with your admin. Confirm you can open the document at the source. |
| Verify email | Verify your Studio email to return to the connection page. Reopen the original link if you are not redirected. |
| Expired or cancelled authorization | Return to the original connection page and start again. If the invitation itself expired, ask the admin for a new request. |
| Access revoked | Ask the organization admin to restore your account contribution access before reconnecting. |
| Needs admin attention | Ask your admin to open Settings → Sources, select the integration, and open its connection to inspect the error. |
Your Studio role does not override document access at the source. Connecting a different account or receiving a Search link does not share someone else's mailbox, private calendar, or restricted documents with you.
